Internal Alterations and External Folding Doors

For this scheme the clients wanted to re-design the ground floor layout of their property.

Part of the scheme included creating a large open plan living space in the kitchen-diner. This was achieved by removing some structural walls in the kitchen and utility room as well as in the bathroom, which was reduced in size as part of the project.

We were able to remove the structural walls by using steel support beams. To enhance the open feeling of the building a large folding door was also inserted in one of the external walls.

To enable as large an opening as possible to accommodate the folding doors a bespoke steel wind frame was designed and constructed.

Our brief included the building regulations submission. For this we produced AutoCAD drawings, including steel connection details, and a full set of structural calculations.
