New Office Block – Salford

Three storey steelwork, concrete and brick structure.

This Contract was a steel supported concrete and brick, four storey, (including basement,) structure in a city centre location. This job was an ‘infill’ between two existing buildings constructed on what had been derelict land. The contract involved difficult specialist designed foundations and the underpinning of one of the adjacent buildings which never had a basement. The finished building was designed to blend in  with the existing buildings.

Our brief included the basement wall design, a reinforced deep raft design and a ground beam and piling scheme for the rear outrigger section of the building.

To keep the project as economical as possible, and the build-ability as simple as possible for such a tight site, the floors were pre-cast concrete on steelwork and the external masonry walls were restrained with the aid of wind posts.
